Having visited London years previously and loving every moment of it, I made the decision to move to the UK at the beginning of 2016. I have been living in Brisbane, Australia for most of my life and completed all my education here and as a consequence worked for the majority of the universities based in Brisbane. I felt like it was time to move to better indulge my passion for travel but also open up different job opportunities. After making the decision to move I meet my current partner Glen – who is English, lives in Brisbane and loves it here – however, he decided to follow me to the UK – much to his parents’ joy!
Having made the decision – then came the organisation and paperwork! The main things we needed to do were:
- Organising a visa
- Shipping our possessions
- Finalising administrative matters and general adulting
- Organising the fur children
Each of these issues are going to be dealt with in separate posts, as they start to get a bit lengthy.
Finally, a bit about us – I am currently undertaking my PhD at the TC Beirne School of Law, The University of Queensland. My education background is law and criminology. When we move I will be doing online work and looking for more permanent academic work. My partner Glen, is a graphic designer and illustrator. He is going to focus on his freelance work.
